




Step 1: Bromobenzene reacts with Mg in ether to yield the Grignard reagent, phenylmagnesium bromide.
Step 2: Carbon dioxide reacts with the Grignard reagent, followed by acidic workup, to produce benzoic acid.
Step 3: Benzoic acid undergoes a Hoffmann bromamide reaction, converting the amide to an amine, thus forming aniline.
The final product is aniline (structure in option (1)).
