Theme A – Still Life Composition
Objects Required:
– One boiled egg
– One glass filled with milk
– One bun
– A packet of cheese slices placed on a plate
Arrangement and Composition Guidelines:
1. Main Focus (Central Object):
Place the glass filled with milk slightly towards the center of the composition. The glass should act as the tallest element and create vertical emphasis. Ensure that the rim, transparency, and white tone of the milk are clearly visible.
2. Plate with Bun and Cheese:
Place the plate next to the glass, slightly overlapping or positioned close enough to form a compact grouping. Keep the bun on the plate and place the packet of cheese slices either partially resting on the bun or beside it in a natural manner. This creates balance and unity.
3. Boiled Egg Placement:
Cut the boiled egg into two halves (from any angle) and place it in front of the milk glass. The inside portion (yolk and white) should face the viewer to add visual interest and contrast in colour and texture.
4. Closed Composition:
Arrange all the objects closely so that they form a closed and compact composition. Avoid spreading the objects too far apart. Slight overlapping will help create unity and depth.
5. Balance and Proportion:
The milk glass should form the highest point, the plate with bun should create horizontal balance, and the egg halves in the front should complete the triangular arrangement.
6. Light and Shade:
Use a single light source from one side to create highlights on the glass and soft shadows beneath the objects. Show the shine on the glass and the smooth texture of the egg white and bun surface.
7. Texture and Detailing:
Carefully depict the smooth surface of the milk glass, the soft texture of the bun, the packaging details of the cheese slices, and the yellow yolk inside the egg.
Conclusion:
The final arrangement should look attractive, balanced, and realistic. All objects should form a unified and closed composition with proper perspective, proportion, and shading.
