The Battle of Chinhat, a pivotal event of the Indian Rebellion of 1857, took place on June 30, 1857, near Chinhat, close to Lucknow, India. British forces, under the command of Henry Lawrence, suffered a conclusive defeat against the Indian rebels.
Maulvi Ahmadullah Shah was the principal architect of this rebel victory. As a prominent rebel leader and strategist, he was instrumental in coordinating and directing the anti-British forces. His strategic acumen, coupled with the larger numbers of his troops, proved too much for the British contingent, resulting in their withdrawal and substantial casualties.
