Chamber receiving deoxygenated blood: The right atrium receives deoxygenated blood. Blood enters this chamber from the superior and inferior vena cava.

How deoxygenated blood is sent to the lungs for oxygenation: After entering the right atrium, deoxygenated blood is pumped into the right ventricle. The right ventricle then contracts, sending the blood through the pulmonary artery to the lungs for oxygenation. The pulmonary artery carries the deoxygenated blood to the lungs, where carbon dioxide is exchanged for oxygen.
