Enacted by the Indian government in 2009, the Right to Education Act (RTE) acknowledges education as a fundamental right, requiring free and compulsory education for all children.
This mandate applies to children aged 6 to 14 years, a period deemed vital for individual growth and societal participation.
Consequently, the Right to Education Act designates the following age range for mandated free education as a Fundamental Right: 6–14 years.
