The National Development Council is chaired by the Prime Minister of India.
This body brings together the central government and the states to discuss national planning and development goals. Because planning decisions need cooperation between the centre and the states, the Prime Minister, as the head of the central government, leads this council.
State Chief Ministers and central ministers sit as members alongside the Prime Minister.
