Sage Vyasa, whose full name is Vedvyasa, wrote the Mahabharata. He is honoured as one of the great sages of ancient India and is also said to have arranged the four Vedas, which is why he is called Vedvyasa. Besides writing the epic, he is part of its story, being the grandfather of both the Pandavas and the Kauravas.
