Chittaranjan Das is the founder of the Swarajya Dal.
He started this party in 1923, working closely with Motilal Nehru. Their aim was to contest council elections and use those seats to obstruct and criticise British colonial policies from inside the system.
This was a shift from the earlier Congress strategy of non-cooperation and boycott, and it gave rise to a new line of political action during the freedom struggle.
