Carl Linnaeus is remembered as the father of taxonomy because his 18th-century system of grouping plants into hierarchical ranks and naming them with two-part (binomial) names came well before Bentham & Hooker's later plant classification or Whittaker's five-kingdom scheme. So the first person to classify the plant kingdom was Linnaeus, option (a).
