Founded in the 14th century, the Vijayanagara Empire was a significant South Indian kingdom. Harihara I and Bukka Raya I, brothers, are credited with its establishment.
Having previously served in the Hoysala Empire's administration, these brothers founded the Vijayanagara Empire under the spiritual guidance of sage Vidyaranya. Their rule ushered in a new epoch, making substantial contributions to South Indian architecture, economy, and culture.
Therefore, the founders of the Vijayanagara Empire were Harihara and Bukka.
