- The grand entrance of the temple is adorned with intricate carvings, and the air is filled with the scent of incense and flowers.
- The area is bustling with devotees and pilgrims, many of whom are offering prayers and lighting incense sticks.
- There are numerous small temples and shrines scattered around the temple complex, each with its own significance.
What I Saw Happening Inside the Temple:
- The temple is sacred to Lord Shiva, and devotees are engaged in various rituals, chanting prayers and performing abhishekam (ritual bathing) of the idol.
- The main temple is bustling with activity, where priests are performing puja (worship) and offering flowers, fruits, and holy water to the Shiva linga.
- Devotees are seen making offerings of milk, ghee, and sweets to the sacred idols, and some are also participating in the Aarti (evening prayer ritual).
What I Did Inside the Temple:
- I took part in the aarti by standing alongside other visitors, listening to the soothing chants and bells ringing around us.
- I offered flowers and prayed for peace and well-being, following the customs of the temple.
- I explored the smaller shrines within the temple complex, each with its own unique charm and significance.
What I Saw Outside the Temple:
- Outside the temple, there is a large open area where people are gathered, some sitting and meditating, others taking part in group prayers.
- The banks of the Bagmati River are lined with temples, and I noticed a few cremations taking place at the ghats, which is a common ritual at Pashupatinath.
- The atmosphere outside was peaceful, with people making offerings to the river, lighting diyas (oil lamps), and sitting in quiet contemplation.
