Step 1: "Ghost Print" Defined. A ghost print is a faint second print from a plate, made without re-inking. The initial print's leftover ink creates a pale "ghost" image.
Step 2: Connection to Options. This is a key feature of Monoprint and Monotype. In these methods, artists use a non-porous plate, and the initial print uses most of the ink. The remaining ink makes a unique, subtle secondary ghost image, which is considered desirable. This is not typical of the other techniques.
