The component responsible for producing low-frequency sounds in a loudspeaker is referred to as a subwoofer or woofer. Woofers excel at reproducing bass frequencies, generally between 20 Hz and 200 Hz. Their larger cones and capacity for greater air displacement generate profound, resonant low-frequency audio. Subwoofers concentrate on the very lowest frequencies to augment the bass reproduction within audio setups.
