The ISO 14000 series as a whole deals with environmental management, but it is ISO 14001 specifically that lays out the actual requirements an organisation must meet to build and run an environmental management system, and it is the only standard in this family that companies get certified against. The other numbers in the series, like 14004, mostly offer guidance rather than a certifiable requirement.
