Winners of Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award receive-

• A. A medallion, a certificate, and a cash prize of Rs.25 lakhs
• B. A medallion, a certificate, and a cash prize of Rs.15 lakhs
• C. A medallion, a certificate, a bronze statuette and a cash prize of Rs.5 lakhs
• D. A medallion, a certificate, a bronze statuette and a cash prize of Rs.20 lakhs

Hint:

Read the paragraph on the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. It lists the exact items and the cash prize.

Answer 1

The Correct Option is A

Step 1: Approach
Compare the reward of each option with the reward stated in the passage for the Khel Ratna. Use the cash amount first because it is the easiest clue.

Step 2: Use the cash amount
The passage gives Rs.25 lakhs for the Khel Ratna. Only option 1 has Rs.25 lakhs. Options 2, 3 and 4 have Rs.15 lakhs, Rs.5 lakhs and Rs.20 lakhs, so they cannot match.

Step 3: Confirm with the items
The passage lists a medallion and a certificate for the Khel Ratna, with no statuette. Option 1 lists exactly these two items and the cash prize. Options 3 and 4 add a bronze statuette, which the passage links only to the Arjun and Dronacharya awards.

Step 4: Note on the other awards
The Arjun and Dronacharya awards carry a bronze statuette, a certificate, ceremonial attire and Rs.15 lakhs. So option 2 mixes up the Khel Ratna with these awards.

Final Answer:
The correct reward is a medallion, a certificate and Rs.25 lakhs, option 1. \[\boxed{1}\]
