Within traditional Hinduism, Ashramas denote the four life stages: Brahmacharya (student), Grihastha (householder), Vanaprastha (retirement), and Sannyasa (renunciation). Neither Shudra (a Varna/caste) nor Upanayan (a Samskara/ritual) belong to the Ashrama system; consequently, they are not included.
