Fibroblasts are the principal cells that synthesize collagen and elastin fibers within connective tissues.
Cartilage, Bone, Adipose tissue, and Areolar tissue: These tissues house fibroblasts or analogous cells (chondrocytes in cartilage, osteoblasts in bone, adipocytes in adipose tissue) responsible for producing collagen or elastin fibers.
Blood: Fibroblasts are absent in blood. While its matrix (plasma) includes diverse proteins, these are not secreted by blood cells in a manner comparable to fibroblast secretion of collagen and elastin.
