Spermatogenesis, the process of producing haploid sperm from diploid spermatogonia, takes place within the seminiferous tubules of the testes. It comprises three primary stages:
\begin{itemize}
\item Multiplication Phase: Spermatogonia (diploid stem cells) proliferate via mitosis. A subset of these differentiates into primary spermatocytes.
\item Growth Phase: Primary spermatocytes enlarge and prepare for meiosis.
\item Maturation Phase: Meiosis I in primary spermatocytes yields two haploid secondary spermatocytes, which then undergo meiosis II to produce four haploid spermatids.
\end{itemize}
Spermatids transform into mature spermatozoa through spermiogenesis. Sertoli cells offer essential structural and nutritional support throughout this process. In humans, this entire cycle spans approximately 64–74 days.
