Step 2: Identify which one has a free water table.
In an unconfined aquifer, the top surface is open through permeable soil, so its upper boundary, the water table, is free to rise and fall with recharge and pumping.
Step 3: Eliminate the sealed options.
Confined and artesian aquifers sit under a pressure-tight layer, and an aquiclude barely transmits water at all, so none of them show a freely moving water table.
