Epistasis is an interaction where genes at different locations (non-allelic genes) affect each other. Specifically, one gene (the epistatic gene) hides or changes how another gene is expressed (the hypostatic gene). This differs from dominance, which involves interactions between alleles of the same gene (intra-allelic).
