Recall the origin and design of the tool. Reginald Punnett created a simple checkerboard in which one parent's gametes head the columns and the other parent's gametes head the rows. Filling each cell pairs one allele from each parent.
The purpose follows directly from the layout. Each filled cell shows one possible combination of alleles in a child, so the completed grid enumerates all genotypes the offspring can have and the proportion of each, which in turn yields the expected phenotype ratios of a cross.
Check the wrong answers against this. It is not a method of statistics, it has no link to estimating body surface area which relies on height and weight formulae, and it is not a way of sorting individuals into diseased and healthy groups.
Its sole job is to predict offspring genotypes from a cross.
